Ministry of the Holy Ghost Following Water Baptism  

Descended in bodily shape upon Jesus Christ after baptism-Luke 3:22; see also Matt. 3:16; Mark 1:9-11; compare John 1:32, 33; 1 Nephi 11:27.  

I indeed have baptized you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost-Mark 1:8; see also Acts 1:5; 11:16; 19:5, 6.  

After repentance and baptism: Ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost-Acts 2:38.  

About twelve were baptized at Ephesus, and when Paul laid his hands upon them the Holy Ghost came on them-Acts 19:1-7.  

The Father to give the Holy Ghost to those who are baptized-2 Nephi 31:12; see also 31:13; 3 Nephi 11:33-36.  

Whoso repents and is baptized according to the holy commandment shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost-D&C 49:12-14; see also 33:15.  

Remission of sins by baptism and by fire, yea, even the Holy Ghost-D&C 19:31.

Holy Ghost Invoked by Authorized Laying on of Hands  

Peter and John laid their hands upon Samaritan converts and they received the Holy Ghost-Acts 8:14-17. Note that while Philip had authority to preach and baptize, men holding the higher authority were sent to confer the Holy Ghost upon the converts in Samaria. Here appears the distinction between the authority of the lesser or Aaronic and the higher or Melchizedek Priesthood.

The resurrected Christ by physical touch commissioned the Nephite disciples to confer the Holy Ghost-3 Nephi 18:36, 37. To him upon whom ye shall lay your hands ye shall give the Holy Ghost-Moroni, chap. 2.  

He shall lay his hands upon thee, and thou shalt receive the Holy Ghost-D&C 25:8.  

Gift of the Holy Ghost given to the baptized, by the laying on of the hands of the elders-D&C 49:14.

Some of the Attributes and Operations of the Holy Ghost  

The Holy Ghost shall teach you-Luke 12:12.

Christ through the Holy Ghost gave commandments unto the apostles-Acts 1:2.  

Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you-Acts 1:8.
